Week of September 13 to September 20, 2010

On Saturday we drove about 10 miles Northeast to the city of Versoix which is on the edge of
Lake Geneva. It was so beautiful driving through the farm land on our way.

There are so many trees and fields - some planted and some just tilled. The town itself reminded me a little of the coast towns in southern Calif.

We went looking for a particular grocery store, Migros, which we didn't find but we loved the small cities so much that we just kept going. As we drove through Coppet the buildings were fascinating so we stopped for a while

.

They look very old and interesting. We got out and walked around for a little while. It was late so there was only one shop open at the time and it had baskets and woven shopping bags. And of course flowers.

We walked over to the lake which was about a half block from the main road and discovered this beautiful dock adorned with flowers. I think boats leave from here to go across the lake and back for tourists.

As we looked back toward the bank we saw these old interesting homes.

On the way back we passed this beautiful little chapel. As we pulled into the parking lot it said Private Property so we didn’t dare linger or walk around it.

On Sunday we spoke in Sacrament Meeting. Our topics were “How to prepare for conference” and “a favorite conference address”. I took preparing for conference and in the process of preparing for my talk I discovered the new church web site new.lds.org. They have redesigned the old site and made it more user friendly for media. We will go to this site to listen to some of the sessions of conference. One of the things I discovered on the site were all the new things they have for children. They have games and other activities to help children listen to conference. They also have animated videos for children and things they could do on Sundays. It was great! For adults I found a study guide which was really cool and a place to help you keep track of pieces of General Authorities talks you want to remember or use in a talk. So many great things are on this site. Dad chose a talk by D. Todd Christopherson (How could he resist with a name like that) It was a wonderful address about the blessing of the scriptures and Dad did a great job. After church we came home and had the largest artichoke I have ever seen with our dinner.
